BAMA'S BLUES - June 11,1999 - June 26,2009
On June 26, 2009 Bama's Blues was humanely put down due to surgical complications after a week
long illness.  It had only been ten years and two weeks since he had been foaled.  The son of AQHA
stallion, Hanks Bama Kid, out of the TB mare, Spread the Blues, he was from the start a big puppy
that melted your heart. His accomplishments in the show ring started at the ripe old age of one
receiving the USEF Zone IV Reserve Champion  in the yearling hunter Breeding Division in 2000.
Then again as a two & three year old.  He was Year End Champion  in the Baby Green Division, Long
Stirrup, Child/ Adult hunters and placed as well in the jumper divisions. Bama loved foxhunting and
always new where the hounds were. He would do it all with a tiny little girl on his back or the most
advanced rider as he was an equitation riders dream come true. Bama had no fear and his gaits were
as smooth as glass. Bama had one true human love and that was his Katie. She had helped to break
him and rode him up until his death. We will all miss "Bama". There will never be another like him.
HARPERS FERRY aka "Hank" March 14, 1993 - February 18,2009
In memory of Hank who was euthanized after breaking his leg on on February 18, 2009 at the age of 16.
Harper's Ferry was a special horse who had only been with us a short time but was loved by many. He
had many alias as he had many owners. Hank had raced as a two & three year old then when he retired
from the track became a Civil War reenactment mount where he was discovered by Cindy H. who
started his hunter career. He was then sold to Kristi D. and shown in the Childrens Hunters.
Eventually he came to OVS where he was leased by Ann Ashford who showed him in the hopeful
jumpers.  AA loved him dearly. He was a very sweet & playful gelding who will always be missed.
